How to Choose Grade of Tungsten Carbide for Mining?

The correct choice of tungsten carbide inserts for mining grade is one of the most important factors in ensuring the effective use of cemented carbide.

When choosing a carbide grade, focus on the toughness of the alloy for very hard rocks and heavy rock drills with high impact power, and choose a grade with a high cobalt content;

For hard, brittle and corrosive rocks, the focus should be on the wear resistance of the alloy and a slightly lower grade of cobalt should be used;

For medium hard and less than medium hard rocks, alloy grades with a lower cobalt content and a higher hardness should be used;

For mining cemented carbide for coal miner cut-off teeth under heavy use, the main use is to reduce the cobalt content to increase, the grain size so that the bending strength and impact toughness of the alloy can be greatly improved;

For pillar teeth, crosses and triple edged brazing heads, a lower cobalt content carbide is used.

The following points should also be noted:

The general principle adopted is that the harder the rock being chiselled, the better the toughness of the chosen alloy piece should be, but not too soft. It is important that the wear resistance is not too low, as too soft will increase the consumption of the alloy and at the same time reduce the efficiency of the chiselling. For rock formations with many cracks, regardless of their hardness and the type of rock drill used, a cross-shaped head should be used.

3.The method of breaking the rock (cutting, shearing, crushing, striking, etc.)

4.Capacity of the equipment (high or low wind pressure)
