High hardness (86 to 93 HRA, equivalent to 69 to 81 HRC)
Good thermal hardness (up to 900 to 1000°C, maintaining 60 HRC).
Good wear resistance.
Cemented carbide tools than high-speed steel cutting speed 4 to 7 times higher, tool life 5 to 80 times higher. Manufacturing moulds and gauges, life is 20 to 150 times higher than alloy tool steel. Can cut about 50HRC hard material.
However, the brittleness of cemented carbide, can not be cutting processing, difficult to make complex shape of the overall tool, and therefore often made of different shapes of inserts, using welding, bonding, mechanical clamping and other methods installed in the body of the knife or mould specific use.
